Stanton Moore is most well known as the stand-out drummer for New Orleans funk band, Galactic. However, his involvement in the music industry goes far deeper than that.
With a bachelor’s degree in music and business from Loyola University, Stanton Moore stays involved in education by constantly giving clinics and teaching master classes and private lessons all over the world. He has been a contributing writer for Drum!, Modern Drummer, and DownBeat magazines and has been featured on the covers of over a dozen drum publications worldwide. Moore received a Grammy award in 2007 for his contribution to Irma Thomas’ After the Rain.
He has a signature line of cymbals (the Crescent Series Stanton Moore Collection) with Sabian Cymbals and a signature drumstick with Vic Firth stick company. In 2009, Moore introduced his own drum company with the launch of his signature titanium snare drum. Soon after, in collaboration with Gretsch Drums, he debuted his signature wood snare drum. In 2011, Moore added to his signature line by creating a drum set add on pandeiro in conjunction with Latin Percussion.
When not touring with one of the many bands he is a part of, Stanton continues to serve on the board of directors for Roots of Music, a free music education and academic mentoring program founded by Derrick Tabb, drummer for Rebirth Brass Band and recent nominee for CNN’s Heroes awards.
As teaching is just as close of a passion as the music itself, the Stanton Moore Drum Academy is his latest venture in teaching the wealth of musical knowledge and history that he embodies.
