I’m so very excited for Jazz Fest this year!!! As you can imagine, live musicians are so excited to be getting back to work. This year I have some very exciting shows and a couple of changes to some of the gigs I’ve traditionally done in the past. This year, some of the highlights that I am looking forward to are playing the Orpheum Theatre with the great Les Claypool with my buddies Skerik and Mike Dillon. Of course I’m looking forward to our gigs at Tipitina’s with Galactic. I’m especially looking forward to Galactic’s Jazz Fest Fairgrounds set as we’ll be playing on the main stage right before THE WHO! I’ve been a Who fan since I was a teenager, so this is beyond exciting for me.
I’m very excited to be playing the Toulouse theater with Donald Harrison Jr., Robert Walter, Will Bernard and Robert Mercurio. This is the band formerly known by a name that rhymes with equinox. We’ll be playing the same stage at the same time as previous years, but the venue is now the Toulouse Theater and for now we will play under our own names.
Galactic will be a special guest at Trombone Shorty’s Treme Threauxdown and I’ll be a special guest for Preservation Hall’s 60th Anniversary Celebration at the Orpheum Theater.
The M&M’s featuring John Medeski, Papa Mali, Robert Mercurio and Margie Perez will be playing Tipitina’s. I’m playing with Skerik, John Medeski and Mono Neon at the Howlin’ Wolf.
Robert Mercurio and I will be joining Dumpstaphunk at the Maison. I’ll be playing with Dragon Smoke at Tip’s, and Tony Dagradi’s saxophone ensemble in the Jazz Tent.
I’m super excited about my Stanton Moore and Friends show at the Toulouse Theater. For this show I’ll start with my piano trio featuring David Torkanowsky and James singleton. We’ll add my good friends Skerik and Eric Bloom on horns. Then I’ll feature my organ trio with Robert Walter and Will Bernard. We’ll also add Skerik and Eric Bloom to this trio as well.
I am honored that this year, I’ll also have my own slot in the Jazz Tent!
We’ll wrap everything up just as we do every year at DBA on the last Sunday. We’ll start with my organ trio of Robert Walter and Will Bernard and then we’ll add Robert Mercurio and Big Chief Donald Harrison for the second half.
Details and ticket links for all the shows are below. I can’t wait to play for everyone and see everyone. It’s so great to be back!
Stay Funky, Stanton
